I have been training with Edgar since 4/1 and, while he works me really hard, the results are really worth it.
Since day one, he has helped to to eat cleaner and work out harder. He holds me accountable for my diet by requesting pictures of EVERY MEAL (not just breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but snacks as well). Each session is a little bit different but incorporates more than just one muscle group. I've noticed that I can fit into clothes I have NEVER been able to wear comfortably, but I am also seeing definition in my thighs, arms, and stomach.
Had it not been for Edgar, I don't think I would've found the motivation to lose weight for my June wedding!
Thanks, Edgar! :p - Jeffrey S.San Francisco, United States39 friends29 reviews2 photos
4/12/2019Updated review12/4/19 UPDATE: I just received a check in the mail for $47 for a class action settlement lawsuit for exactly what I described in my review. I am glad that someone finally brought this to the eyes of the law and SNAP is now paying reparations to those inflicted by their $35 maintenance fee that was never in the contract. It was just unfortunate that when I brought the situation to a lawyer back then, they did not want to take the case. The downside to all this, besides it taking 5 years to resolve, is that a settlement lawsuit means that SNAP does not need to claim they are guilty in any regard...they simply pay their fine and move on. Justice is only slightly done.
6/6/2017Previous reviewAvoid at all costs. This review is about their management and billing and less about the facility. The facility and equipment get 4/5 stars with 1 less due to the limited machines.
I joined over 1 year ago. Starting in January i decided to put my membership on hold for 2 month, as I had a lot going on in my life at the time. They said they needed to charge me $10/month. Looking at my contract months later it states that a membership hold is only $5/month. Ok, whatever.
March rolls around and I resume my membership and then come April I start seeing crazy charges to my card from Snap. One for $35 and then in early May for $99 and another $35. So I call them for an explanation and they said the $35 was a yearly maintenance fee. Looking at my contract it did not state I would be charged this nor was there any clause stating I may ne subject to any additional charges beyond payment for the monthly dues being late.
I decided to cancel my membership, both because of these crazy fees and the fact that I wasnt using the gym as much as I should to get my moneys worth.
It has been a month now since I requested to cancel with no reponse about the excess charges. They just reached out to me today saying I owe my monthly dues for June even though ai cancelled my membership last month. They told me I need to give a full 30 days notice, meaning i need to pay for May and June. Whatever, no big deal. I just wanted out and my unauthorized charges answered for.
I told them I am not giving them my new credit card number though, as I had to request a new card due to all the unauthorized charges and they still haven't given me an explanation or refunded me. However, I also wanted clarification and refund for the other unauthorized charges and asked where I can send the check for final June dues, to which his response:
"I would highly advise you to rethink the matter. You signed a membership agreement authorizing charges, your attendance history shows you have been using the gym and then you reversed charges - this is a felony and we can report the crime."
In conclusion, I joined to become more physically fit and in the end was threatened and financially abused.Read more

31/8/2019I wanted to tour the gym prior to signing up to know if they have the equipment I need and to get a sense of how well maintained the place is. I show up 3 times during their hours where they state they have a staff member in the office and nobody was there. No doorbell, tried calling, all to no avail. I then leave an email where it takes TWO MONTHS to get a reply when they call me and ask to schedule an appointment instead to make sure I get to go in. We schedule the appointment and I show up day of 5 minutes early and waited 10 minutes over the schedule time. A patron exited and told me nobody was there. Got no call about them cancelling or being late, nothing. I have never seen a gym not want to accept my money. Super disappointed and do not recommend at all. Terrible service and communication.

19/7/2019Updated reviewFinal straw: I saw someone who clearly wasn't in work out trying to sneak into the gym after hovering outside with another person. Bottom line, this place does not feel safe. I'm going to spend the extra money and take the longer commute to work out somewhere I feel secure.
17/6/2019Previous reviewUnfortunately, I will not be continuing my membership at this gym.
Initially, I appreciated the gym for it's hours and convenient location (there aren't very many gyms walking distance in the area).
However, I never fully felt safe as a woman working out by myself at this gym. Since I work out first thing in the morning, I'm often the only one or one of two people there. I never feel fully safe zoning into my workout because I have to constantly be aware of the environment. Sometimes folks leave the doors open and people seem to be there not to work out (which throws me off)).
I have come to term that I simply feel safer with other people and staff present.
UPDATE: Changed this review to one start after the staff online made it very difficult to cancel my membership. I purchased 6 months and emailed the staff to ensure that I will not be charged after this trial ends. On my member account online, it says that I am NOT signed up for auto renewal. However, the staff told me I have to go on site to sign cancellation paperwork.Read more

9/4/2018I'm currently looking for another gym to join and I cannot do it fast enough. Also, there seems to be a bunch of "bros" working out for free now.
Reason to stay away from this gym:
1. Saturday morning 4/7/18, I walked in and a homeless person was sleeping on the floor. Did not feel safe and left immediately.
2. The overall cleanliness has gone down hill. Disinfectant wipes dispenser is always out, the floor mats are not cleaned, fowl sewer smell coming out of the bathroom, no ventilation.
3. Owners will not run AC, the gym is always stuffy and hot.
4. Annual gym maintenance fee of $35. Not sure what is being maintained at this point. - Teresita S.Redwood City, United States34 friends25 reviews10 photos
16/3/2018Updated reviewUpdating this review yet again for yet another not so pleasant experience with this business.
When I cancelled my membership early last month, I was told that there would be one final billing for the month of February on 2/20. Fine, that was expected per the initial contract. I signed the cancellation form and they confirmed the cancellation via email (so I have everything in writing). However, I see a charge for $45 on my credit card for this month after a confirmation from them that my membership was cancelled! What kind of business practice is that?! It seems the only way this business responds to emails is if you leave a bad Yelp review. I was being kind by giving them an updated good review before because mistakes happen but this type of financial management on their part is unacceptable.
5/2/2018Previous reviewSnap Fitness reached out to remedy the email issue. After some back-and-forth communications, they were able to respond to my membership cancellation request, which I appreciate.
They were also able to answer as to why there was no squat rack. Because the facility is open 24/7 and isn't staffed 24/7, a squat rack could be a big safety issue, which I agree with (safety first!). Wanted to share since there were mentions of it in other reviews.Read more
2/2/2018Previous reviewAlmost a couple of months ago, I was researching fitness-related deals on GroupOn and saw a 2-month membership to this gym for $46ish. Okay, great. I emailed them and they were quick to send a reply with instructions on how to redeem. Fantastic, quick email replies!
Their staffed hours are a bit odd and I had to stop by during my lunch break. Fine, no problem. I met with Carlos, one of the employees, and he signed me up. He said I needed to put down a credit card because the membership would continue after the GroupOn expires and if I wanted to cancel beforehand, to do so before the 5th of the month to avoid a charge. So, I went ahead and provided my credit card info keeping in mind that I could cancel later.
Fast forward to about 6 weeks later. Earlier this week, I emailed the same email address I used to contact them about the Groupon redemption asking to cancel my membership and to provide a confirmation that it's been cancelled. No reply. 2 days later, I decide to email them again and still have yet to receive a reply, which is odd considering they were quick to email when I wanted to redeem my Groupon. If they're on vacation or something else, an auto-reply would be great (and standard for any business) but based on the other reviews about billing and/or cancelling, I'm thinking otherwise. Could the other negative reviews be true?
I've never used the gym (hence why I'm cancelling) but based on the tour at the Groupon redemption, the gym looked clean but small and lacking some strength training/weight lifting essentials. For example, they have one Smith machine but no squat rack. Not a huge deal but I could tell that people would outgrow this gym for a lack of a squat rack because a Smith machine is limiting.
Parking is good - there's a lot and street parking. Carlos was nice and provided good customer service. And a 24-hour gym as well as access to other Snapfitness gyms are always pluses. BUT their lack of replying to their main email is poor customer service. If you're a big chain, then I can understand the delay in replying but even the biggest of chains take an average of 1-2 business days to reply. Even bigger gyms replied quicker when I wanted to cancel. It's weird that they're quick to sign people up but seem to take forever to reply to emails that say they want to cancel.
I probably would've rated higher if I received the same customer service I got when I redeemed the Groupon but right now, just 2 stars. To be continued...Read more

12/10/2018Awful place, they run business not based on honest, I was brought Groupon deal to two months membership. Owner required my credit card information, but they told me they would not charge me, just hold the card in case I'm going continue the membership. But after two months I walk in to the gym told they I would like to cancel the membership. The employe also told me they canceled it. I'm not the person like to check my bank account. Until recently I checked my account. This gym keep change me membership fee for at least 5 months,45$for each month, and there is a month double charged! This place is ROB Your money.

14/10/2018Two reasons why you do not sign on up and go to a different brand:
1) the staff act like you are a sucker for joining and then do everything they can to prevent you from ending membership. Seriously? Where is corporate oversight?
2) place is dark to the point of depressing. Working out is supposed to be invigorating,m and this place is demotivating.
3) Equipment is limited and in complete if you do anything other than curl a weight.
Don't be a sucker. Help them realize who is the real boss in town by AVOIDING this place until you see an 'under new management' sign. - Pin Yun W.San Francisco, United States0 friends1 review
4/8/2018The Groupon is $45 for two-month membership but Snap Fitness charged me when the second month begins. I argued about this mistake, then the staff just said they would get money back for me. Finally, the owner said they would take care of my refund. Then, I didn't receive any refund. The owner never picked up the phone and never replied the mail during the weekday. I'm so disappointed with this fitness place and feeling speechless. Such the worst company I have ever met in these five years in Bay Area. Maybe they just don't give a fuck to Asian international student. DON'T COME HERE IF YOU CAN.

28/7/2018Love this tiny gym! It's super in the cuts with parking.. it's hardly ever crowded and I feel like there's everything I need. Not to mention, now that there is a new trainer there (only certain days and times) she uses great air fresheners and the soap and TP are always full:) would give 5 stars if there were more mirrors upstairs and extra things like resistance bands, yoga blocks and a squat bar:)

16/5/2018This gym does not do a good job maintaining cleanliness. Bathrooms are gross. Equipment is old.
When I wanted to cancel my membership they charged me the remaining month and the following month. When I called to get my money back for the extra month as I moved and would not be using the gym they would not refund me the money. I told them that this policy is ridiculous and I would be writing a review. They accused me of extortion! Is this how management treats their consumers? I told them I no longer give give consent for direct debit out of my banking account and I would be writing a check instead. The still tried to take my money out without consent which is illegal under the FTC!
The management does everything they can to squeeze out dollars as evident by all the other 1 star reviews regarding shady billing practices. The owner Jerod Hoffman under the legal umbrella Minerva Vox, LLC need to change business practices from bottom line to maintaining and improving the gym as well as improving customer service. - Derick T.San Francisco, United States7 friends2 reviews1 photo

30/9/2016I think the gym is pretty nice. But when I wanted to talk to one their gym owners, they were kind of rude. I talked with them about the gym prices and how I can improve on my training routine. After a good ol' conversation, their phone rang.
The gym owner can just politely tell me, "Could u just wait for a few minutes while I take this phone call?" Instead, the gym owner had to take his call by saying "Byeeeee!" very rudely to me. Like I gave him a bad attitude or something. I didn't say anything afterwards once I left their office.
I wouldn't consider going back to this gym. Not for me, at least... :/ - Georgina R.San Francisco, United States155 friends3 reviews1 photo
12/10/2017WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMMEN CURTSY. I am extremely disappointed with this establishment. I signed up with a groupon deal and during the same time my auntie was signing up her son. Due to the employees lack of knowledge of adding a new member and adding a groupon deal, he promised to talk to his manager and sorting it out. Due to his lack of knowledge he did not explain that a card had to be on field for the groupon deal.
Somehow my aunties membership information (credit card info) was added to my account and so when my 2 months were over they began charging my auntie.
When my auntie called to see what the extra charges were about, the rude employee decided to tell my auntie "oh that's messed up that your OWN NEICE WOULD TAKE YOUR CARD INFORMATION AND TRICK YOU LIKE THAT"
Luckily my auntie knows I would never do that to her, but for an employee to even suggest something like hat so some one is UNBELIEVABLE!
I decided to go into the office and get it sorted out. Although this was a different employee who wasn't rude, he as well did not know how to handle the situation and said a manager would call me after helping me sign the cancelation form.
Next month and my auntie continues being charge and so I call again and the employee continues to be rude and not bothering to hear my story but quickly explains how this our fault. After repeating multiple time to please speak to a manager he took down my info.
Unfortunately speaking to the "manager" was EVEN WORSE THEN I COULD HAVE EVER EXPECTED!!!
He was rude, unprofessional, and immature. The manager as well, choose to explain how this is not their fault without bothering to hear what my situation was or what I was even complaining again. After stating that this was my fault, he would rudely try to end the call.
I have never experienced such horrible treatment and professionalism!

29/11/2016Started out with purchasing a 3 month membership for $40! After that is $40/ month. I also purchase the Power Plate, which is $99 per month which I use for massage, cardio, and strengthening. My boyfriend and I go and it is our playground every time - Treadmills first, Jacobs Ladder next (fave!), TRX bands, Smith machines (squats), and other misc equipment used. This gym is efficient, all equipment does good work. My favorite part of all is this gym is 24/7 and is never overcrowded. You need to come in during the staff hours for customer service assistance because no one is there otherwise. The owners are a sweet, young couple who are super friendly and helpful. I am a fan of this gym :)

This gym is perfect for me!
I initially bought my membership through a 3 month trial with groupon. It was nearby my house so I figured why not give it a try. I've visited several other gyms around the area including planet fitness and crunch. After my trial period ended I have continued my membership for almost a year because it has all the facilities and perks that I need that other gyms don't offer.
-Snap has 24/7 accessibility
-Plenty of free parking in the building garage
-A variety of machines that are also clean and new!
-Plenty of TV's and cable so I can change the channel while working out
-Friendly staff.
I enjoy a little privacy at the gym. I never have to wait for a machine here when I do my work outs and no one ever bothers me. It doesn't have that crowded feeling I get at other gyms as well.
What would make this gym better would be to have a few group workout classes like Zumba or Yoga! It would also be better to have ventilation still running after office hours. The gym tends to get really hot since its underground and the large windows absorb a lot of heat and sunlight. - Grace C.Redlands, United States
17/5/2015I loooooove this gym. I started in February and signed up immediately to have personal training with Jerod. He's fantastic, he kept me motivated throughout our sessions and we set realistic goals for my nutrition. I saw amazing progress and I reached my personal goals within our first 4 weeks!! Due to personal reasons, I was unable to go this last month but since everything he taught me has been integrated into my every day life, I've been able to maintain my current level of fitness!
Jerod is actually very understanding and really makes it his priority to help his clients meet their goals. He gives advice without forcing you to do anything you aren't ready for. He's very motivational and makes sure to implement stretches to support your work outs. I would recommend him to everyone I know. - Andy H.San Francisco, United States0 friends2 reviews

7/6/2017I think the gym is well kept and nice, but the management/billing processes are horrible. They are shady about their billing and threatens ppl to take bad reviews down. See all the 1 star comments below. Yelp needs to step in about this company for threatening our free speech. The reviews of 4 stars plus must be rigged because they threatened their guests not to post bad reviews. I hardly put bad reviews but this fitness center just makes my blood boil. They are rude and unprofessional!!! If they dare to threatened me, I will take this to the highest matter. Don't even think of reaching out to me SnapF- I'll report you if you harass me. And to you good ppl out there, don't waste your time and buy into their Groupon or discounted deals- they'll get you bad somehow, NOT WORTH IT! Ughh....you need to rethink how you treat and talk to your customers. #RUDE
