The pyrmont point hotel is all you could ask for in a local pub. The beers are inexpensive and the food is always great! Every time I have come here the staff have been really friendly and my food has come out really quickly. The wagu burger is really good for a simple pub burger. Would recommend.
This is our "go to" restaurant now, since we live very close by. When our dinner plan fell through, we just walk over here. Good menu selections from soup, salad to steak and risotto. Beer selections are pretty good as well- usually 8-10 beer on the tap. TVs around to watch games, or you can go upstairs for more quieter dining experience.
Now that there is a light rail running around the inner suburbs (at least to the West) this place is a little easier to get to (not that I ever went out this far until recently). It's actually a really nice hotel hidden away in the back streets of Pyrmont, away from the hustle and bustle of the really touristy areas. It is more of a locals hotel, but a really nice one at that. Okay, when I was here it was early afternoon, but the place seemed really relaxed, and the staff were pretty nice as well. The upstairs area is actually really nice, still having that old charm about it. Be careful with the stairs though because they are pretty steep. They do have a decent range of beers on tap, but it is the ambience of this place that I really like.
Loved this place 10 years ago when it was the only decent bistro in Pyrmont. The last few times we have visited we were not impressed by the food. This time the chips that came with the chicken schnitzel were soggy and there was a hair in the other dish we ordered. Won't be coming back again.
I want to give props to the owner this evening. We got some takeaway. The girls wanted some calamari, but being young they don't want the salad and sauce that comes with the tapas version. The person sitting next to us was the owner. He heard that the girls were disappointed in the presentation. I said I'll just go back in and order another batch just dry. He asked us how we wanted it and went into the kitchen and had it fixed. He didn't have to do that because I all likelihood I ordered it wrong. So thank you sir it is most appreciated. My family loves our local pub. We will definitely keep coming back.
Fantastic food every time we've been. Very nice atmosphere as well. However.... if you don't like a lot of children about, don't dine on Sunday afternoons when kids eat for free.
My food was ok. My girlfriends steak was ordered medium. Came out well done and cold. She asked for extra sauce to counter it being so over cooked and told us we would get free desert. We waited for half hour after finishing to see if we got offered desert. No dice.
As a relaxed place to get a drink, the Pyrmont Point Hotel fits the bill. It's a standard pub located at the corner of Harris and John Streets, close enough to the water that you can feel a cool breeze. I came here with several friends for a drink since we were waiting for a later dinner reservation in Pyrmont. We had time to kill, so all of us decided to stop for some beer at the Pyrmont Point Hotel. There really isn't anything that sets this pub apart from others. The bartenders were pretty plain, but competent. It really sucks that there's a $20 minimum for card transactions. Though this isn't unusual, I do not get why this is so common.
Based right down the end of Harris Street as you almost hit the water is The Pyrmont Point Hotel. A great place for locals and workers in the area to stop in, have a drink and something to eat. The sports bar as you enter, you guessed it shows sport pretty much all of the day and night. There is a TAB area tucked away to the side if you feel the urge to have a bet on what you're watching. As you walk through there's a couple of rooms as you head through to the back court yard which is quite nice. On the way you'll pass the bistro which is quite popular especially with the work crowd who book out a few tables and look for a long lunch, so be quick! Upstairs is another bar area with an outside courtyard and it also can be booked for functions. Although it's right near the water there are no water views, that I can see anyway. Maybe if you stand on the roof upstairs you may catch a glimpse although I'm pretty sure that'd be very illegal!
Went here for dinner and had a delicious little feast! The food was fabulous, fun atmosphere - my girlfriend wants to come back tomorrow already :)
