I can't get enough of escape games!!! Please, lock me in. There's just a great sense of accomplishment when solving a clue or a riddle.
First off first impressions are all in the details. Coffee or tea to start and some nibbles to feed the brain. Each seating area contains smaller puzzles to work on and get the juices flowing. You're able to read about the 3 rooms currently built and find out some tips on escaping like a pro. The room is fitted out like an old Sherlock Holmes story and there are outfits and props to match.
I myself am NOT a pro, with a horrible math brain my skills at solving numerical equations are quite shit. However! I bring the energetic prowess and a uncanny ability to think outside the proverbial "box" or is it room? It's the combination of personalities that make solving escape rooms so good.
We did get out, with some help from the escape room staff- but that's okay!!! Everyone needs a acknowledgment that they're on the right path.
We finished with celebratory bubbly and immediately debriefed other teams in how we did.
What this place gives you is 100% attention and story telling but perhaps missing was the "secret compartment" or more hands on clue finding that I've had at other places. Either way fantastic for all groups big or small (the first place team had three players). Good luck and don't get stuckHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Conor D.Crows Nest New South Wales4626311741 June 2015First to Review
I have always been a fan of puzzles and problem solving. Escape Hunt offers players a real life role play of solving a crime and being the hero.
The facilities are excellent here. Once you get upstairs your instantly transported into a room of mystery and intrigue. The lounge area while you wait is filled with puzzles to keep you entertained. Biscuits and tea or coffee are freely available. It's located on George Street close to Martin Place Station, Town Hall and Wynyard so perfect to get to.
The tone for each room is set out with a description of what your about to encounter on a manual. The excellent hostess also described a brief history of the 3 stories to each room which got us all pumped and ready for our challenge.
Each room offers mental challenges and mathematical problem solving as you attempt to make your way along the crime solving journey. The game is challenging and your given 60 minutes to get out before it's too late. My group and I found it very tough and required a lot of brain storming. Definitely be prepared to be challenged.
The hostess provides you with a walkie talkie for those moments your struggling with clues which is great when your going the wrong way.
The reward for getting out is some fun picture moments with some props like a magnifying glass or pipes. Your chance to look like Sherlock Holmes.
This place is perfect for a group of friends celebrating a birthday or work bounding experience. I highly recommend the place and the staff here and superb professionals and go out of their way to ensure everyone leaves with a smile.
Best thing is they got 3 different rooms and frequently update them so you can return again.
Thanks Escape Hunt for a good experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Edwin K.Wollongong New South Wales281601513 June 2015
Who stole the money from the cottage?
That was what my team of three had to uncover. The place was dimly lit, the brick looking wall paper, the costumes and the other decor gave the feeling of being in a sherlock holmes novel. They even have the accompanying outfits, large magnifying glasses and smoking pipes.
There were many of us detectives, we were divided into groups and had different puzzles to solve and were given an hour to solve the mystery!
The team I was with was the first to solve the mystery (woohoo!!! - I even have a certificate to provide it!) There were a couple of rooms and in each there was a clue and using that we had to find the combination to a lock. Opening a lock usually means uncovering the next clue or getting access to the next room. Upon unlocking the final lock, you'll learn who the culprit it (in our case, who stole the money).
While you're suppose to feel like Sherlock Holmes in this game, I have to say that I felt more like the mentalist. Mainly because the clues we were given were about the behaviour of the possible suspects and we had to decipher the cryptic text and find the correct items to get the combination for the next lock. And also because the place is located in the heart of the Sydney CBD right on George Street. I walk past there countless times and didn't realise that this cool establishment existed.
There were plenty of nibbles where we first arrived and there were also little puzzles for us to solve while we waited for our game to start. And at the end, there were champagne and wine to enjoy while we share our last 60 minutes experience with the other teams.
Our team solves the mystery in 47 minutes. How long did yours take?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Marie G.Randwick New South Wales6018111922 June 2015
What an experience! I highly recommend this activity for smal groups! Basically you are locked in a room for 60 minutes and you need to solve clues and puzzles to get the team out. You are given a walkie talky if you need to ask any questions. It's tricky but rewarding at the same time. You don't know if something is a red herring to distract you or a real clue. Expect the unexpected and do it!

I wasn't sure how I would like escape room, but as soon as they lock you in your assigned room it was so much fun.
Interactive, social, and fun. Definitely one to try with your friends or suggest to your boss for a team bonding experience (hello afternoon off from work!!!)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nancy G.Greystanes New South Wales10384 Nov 2016
What a great way to pass an hour or so. You get put in a room to figure out clues and find the key to get you out. It was pretty tricky but a lot of fun I recommend it to competitive people. I'm ashamed to say I didn't get out but it was fun trying.
