Amherst is a culinary wasteland - mostly fast food outlets....and then this gem. Ate here twice on a recent visit with family. GREAT food, super friendly service and the locals seem to know a good thing - it's busy every lunch time. Great local cafe, we'd be back in a heartbeat.
Relaxed atmosphere. Pleasant surroundings. Small café with nice ambiance and good food. Local art decorate the walls.
Cute little cafe on the old main street of Amherst serving sandwiches, salads, chowder etc.
Yes, it is a gem in a place where culinary sophistication is not common. Service is excellent, homemade desserts, pricing is right. A no brainer to stop here for lunch or dinner.
I'm never disappointed with the food here. My personal favourite is the seafood chowder! The service is always friendly, I highly recommend eating here when in the area.
Good home cooked meal, fresh and quick. Home made soup with homemade rolls was delicious
The seafood chowder was hearty and delicious, and the organic brewed coffee excellent. On top of that the service was warm and friendly. Many thanks!
Nice cafe, great food friendly service. I will make this my spot when I am in Amherst
Food was ok, it didn't seem like anything I couldn't cook myself at home. Servings were on the smaller side for the price. It was also a rather long wait to get food, and it wasn't particularly busy. Server was attentive though.
Very good food - chicken sandwich and seafood chowder - delicious when they arrived. However the wait was so long! More than half an hour, which seemed pretty excessive at lunchtime.
Found Bella's while passing through, and had an excellent dinner. Nice menu and reasonable prices for good food. The staff were also very friendly.

Bellas bistro is named after 3 generations of Bellas. A Great Grandmother, A Grandmother and a Mother!
The owner is a young woman in her early 30's with lots of ideas and creativity. She worked for the previous owner as a chef, in which she has a culinary arts degree. She then bought the restaurant from the previous owner and kept it the same beautiful atmosphere but added a little more spunk and twists.
