About the Business
The Four Sisters bar (originally a covert 1930s brothel and public house) is a darkly Dickensian cocktail bar of candlelit corners and delicious drinks. It specialises in incorporating a unique range of house infused spirits and syrups. Highlights of the current drinks menu include a distinguished barrel-aged 'Count Negroni' (Tanqueray Gin, Lillet Rouge, Punt e Mes, Cynar Artichoke, Campari and Fernet Branca) which is available dispensed either straight from an old oak barrel on the bar, or in a pre bottled and wax sealed bottle to take away. The delicate 'A La Madame' (Tanqueray Gin, Briotette Violette and Champagne). Tiki drinks like 'Night in Havana' (Havana Anejo Especial, Orange Curacao, Cherry Heering and Four Sisters Almond Syrup), 'Pisco Punch #7' (Peruvian Pisco, Four Sisters Pineapple syrup, mint and sage) or the beguiling 'Dracula's Libation' (Finlandia Vodka, Becherovka liquor, King's Ginger liquor and crystallised Aperol).

Secluded speakeasy
A romantic speakeasy great for a first date provided you can get a seat or are doing a quick stopover.
Upperstreet is changing and my once favourite cocktail bar was gone having first been taken over by a chain before permenantly closing down so my wife suggested Four Sisters.
I was greeted by a dark and intimate bar area where many people were standing around the bar or the few tables and chairs. The classic 1930s Jazz was blaring away and I felt that I was being transported back to a time of late night cocktails in the depression era.
My wife was sitting in the back room which for some reason was darker and with no people at all. The music was distant here and the seats were really for a large group so eventually we had to share this space with others.
The cocktails were different from the chains and the mixologist knew what they were doing. The choices though were somewhat limited and there was no happy hour.
We enjoyed our drinks and had seconds before we left. This was a place to revisit and good for couples to hide away and share their own company.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Julie A.San Francisco, United States0552 Oct 2019

Awesome cocktails in a retro environment. 4.5 stars
Highlights:
- Unique cocktails: list up on the wall was hard to choose from because all looked intriguing. Was very happy with my chili infused vodka, strawberry, lime, and Cointreau one (piquant cocktail). Could see the custom infusions and mixers behind the bar
- Atmosphere: small bar area and couches in side room. Cozy and understatedly cool
Lowlights:
- Were in a rush for dinner so only got to have one cocktail
I'm not often out this way, but would love to come back for more cocktailsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vanessa H.Berlin, Germany16633415 Mar 2016
Small, cosy little venue just off busy Upper Street in Islington. It's the perfect place for a first date or a catch up with your girlfriends. They have a happy hour from 4 - 7pm, offering 2 Cocktails for £10. It's limited to 4 Cocktails but oh-so-yummy ones at that. Outside of Happy Hour, you can find Cocktails between £8 - 9.50, which isn't bad for this area at all.
There's a great selection of Cocktails - proper ones, no Woo Woos or Sex on the Beach on the menu here, sorry! I've tasted about 5 different cocktails off the menu so far and couldn't find fault with a single one. Drinks are not knock-you-off-your-socks strong but good cocktails should never have an overwhelming alcohol taste anyway. They use high-quality liquors which means no hangover from cheap vodka or gin, even after having had 4 or 5 cocktails.
Service is super friendly and atmosphere is very chill, with jazz-type music in the background. If you're into laid-back, intimate bars where you can have a chat with your friends without screaming at them, then this is the place for you.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aria S.London Bridge, London, United Kingdom955631939 Jan 2015
Came here for happy hour with a local friend (Lisa C.) and Katie P. Yay global elite members! Glad that it was happy hour because otherwise those drink prices are kinda steep. During HH (5-7pm) they were 2 for 10 pounds.
The spot was on the quieter end, so nice if you are trying to have a real convo. The ambiance is really nice. Comfy seating and dim lighting.
Bartender was really friendly.
Drinks were the type of cocktails that are truly crafted. He spent a good amount of time on each drink making it perfect. Lots of creative and tasty drinks.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Steve B.London, United Kingdom20236816626 Mar 2012First to Review
Formerly 25 Canonbury Lane, now The Four Sisters. Early Sat evening a Low key crowd and same appealing dark wood ambience as the previous bar. Music was OK and not too loud so you could talk.
Ordered two of the featured cocktails which sounded good but were not well balanced, not chilled enough and weak. I am now quite cautious about ordering cocktails in bars unless I know it's reliable since too often it's just an excuse to charge £7.50 or more for a weak, poorly made drink. For that price the customers deserve better. Maybe they will get their act together and realise that they need to up their game.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lynsey S.London, United Kingdom30502830 Aug 2014
The cocktails here are pretty tasty. But as I'm quite tight (frugal, sorry ) I'd only recommend going during happy hours.
Nice concept but the music is bloody irritating. There's only so much 1930's-esque a person can take.
They also only have one women's toilet. Not ok.
The seating arrangement makes no sense to me.
Not my cup of tea.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer L.San Francisco, United States13913 Mar 2015
I just moved to angel and was looking for a fun and casual bar with great cocktails to celebrate my birthday. I stumbled across four sisters on yelp and they were incredible! Not only did they reserve space for my group at no minimum or charge, they had amazing cocktails, a great atmosphere and were great hosts. I have already been back since and would highly recommend this to anyone looking to host a small party or just grab a delicious drink!

I am not sure where the other reviewers went, or if they were really unlucky!
I absolutely love this place. The cocktails are fantastic (yes I know what a decent cocktail should be like), the bar staff (or mixing geniuses, as I like to call them) are so lovely, always chatty and even, when I just don't know what I want rustle up something amazing for me.
It is worth noting that the cocktails don't taste or appear strong, as they are very well mixed (you really shouldn't have an over powering taste of alcohol in a cocktail, otherwise it is a bad cocktail......). I certainly notice the alcohol content after two, and perhaps if you want a filthy, strong Sambuca you should go to the Slug and Lettuce!
These guys also make their own flavoured vodka and gin and use really top notch ingredients.
They have good bar snacks and comfy seats.
Definitely worth a visit (or five)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
