Been here a few times and always have a good laugh. You can really easily book a lane online and there are games machines for a bit of fun after. The food is ok and there's a small range of beers available. Go on a date or with a gang of mates and you'll have a good time.
Negatives are it can be a bit untidy and chaotic and the staff seem stretched. I'm usually waiting for shoes or drinks or something. Not a deal breaker but they would bowl me over if they upped their game there.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Alfie B.Manchester, United Kingdom8968968224 Feb 2010
This is a classic Ten Pin Bowling experience. There's nothing here that's going to surprise you, but at the same time there's nothing you could reasonably hope to find at a tenpin bowling alley, that isn't offered here.
The basics include 26 bowling lanes and 14 pool tables including both American and English tables, which I don't even understand. They have a full bar (crucial) and an American style dodgy diner where you can get a burger and some greasy chips, the perfect accompaniment to a game of ten pin.
They also offer something called 'Cosmic Bowling' where all the lights go out and the whole room and all the lanes turn luminous blue with disco lights and spotlights flying around. Wooooooooo. It claims to be bowling with a nightclub atmosphere, which it really is not. But if you want to bowl with loud music and flashing lights then by all means give it a go!
There's also a Quazar Lazer shooty gun thingymajog, but that's a whole different game isn't it. I'll stick to the bowling.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (Franci…)Manchester, United Kingdom3318735 Feb 2010
For me, going bowling is an excuse to get dressed up in a fancy fifties frock and pretend I'm in Grease 2. So, even though I'm a terrible bowler, I love it! When a few of us decide to go, we usually end up at this massive Ten Pin in Didsbury's Parrs Wood complex, mainly because you can get a really good deal if you book ahead online.
As you bowl on one of the alley's many lanes, you can have a shimmy to the weird 90s pop videos that play on the screens above. You can also give yourself a bit of Dutch courage by visiting the bar, which offers 4-pint pitchers of Strongbow and Carling. Be warned though, too much will make poor bowling skills even ropier!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sam R.Manchester, United Kingdom106746732 Apr 2010
Yeah, I went bowling. I know. It was just a normal Friday night and then my friend called me and asked if I would like to bowling, so I did.
Tenpin is kind of good in an awful way. They have loads of bowling lanes and the whole place is jam packed with young-uns that are a bit too young to go to the pub.
But luckily, there is a full bar inside meaning that you can drink and bowl. Which I really enjoyed doing. What's more, if you can find a friend with a student card the pints are £2 a pop. If like me you haven't been a student for many years, this kind of deal is amazing!
The bowling is just like bowling really. Exactly like it was when I was 13 and everyone was having bowling birthday parties.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (paga_m…)Edinburgh, United Kingdom52304023 May 2010
One of the best bowling alleys and pool table salons in the city. There are also good areas for children to play, a bar, a cafe with snacks (usually fast food stuff but quite tasty and cheap). I visited the place two years ago to play bowling. It turned into a very fun night because we were celebrating the birthday of a new friend of mine from Ghana. Since it is very popular, it is usually decently crowded so be a bit patient and ready about entering a very busy environment.

Bowling has always managed to make the best of your time and leave you satisfied with you time with just the right amount of fun, sport and excitement! Ten Pin has great bowling lanes, excellent deals and a very helpful staff to convert your time into the best. I absolutely love their unlimited bowling during the weekdays for just £6.50 when otherwise its £4 for a single session, its not only value for money but also unlimited enthusiastic fun! It's not just bowling but they also have a late bar, great food to go with and it's a success to celebrate any occasion here if you're looking for something other than the usual 'lets hit the bars tonight!' plan. It's definitely my once in two weeks plan where bowling coupled with some food and pints make your day and you let yourself loose in a completely different dimension!

I don't really enjoy bowling. About once a year one of my friends will suggest we go bowling - why not hey, we say, it's a change of pace from the cinema or the pub. And then we get there and realise why we never really go bowling. It's quite boring. And it doesn't take as much time as you actually think it will. Even if you pay for a few games (and towards the end of the second of which you'll be wishing you never bothered) you're still talking only two thirds of the length of a normal film, or maybe all but the end credits of a slasher-horror. And I know you can't talk in a film and the film you end up seeing might be really bad and the pick and mix at the cinema is hugely overpriced but still, it's all a talking point - something to discuss in the pub after or the car on the way home. Throwing luridly coloured balls down a strip of lacquered flooring provides absolutely no conversational ammunition.
Still if, unlike me, you enjoy bowling this is actually a pretty good place to do it. There is a bar with reduced prices for students and my kryptonite, a diner (burgers, onion rings, hot dogs, heartburn etc.,) and most importantly arcade shooting games (If no one stopped me I could easily pump a fortune worth of 50p's into Time Crisis or House of the Dead.)
Then there is LazerQuest which I would love to tell you about but unfortunately I still haven't been. Apparently it wasn't a romantic enough location for Valentine's Day.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Derek M.Edinburgh, United Kingdom017118 Nov 2008First to Review
Nice place to visit with friends or family although it can be very loud and busy at weekends. Drink promotions are usually on and can get food but don't expect a 5* steak. You can also park your car for free in underground car-park but remember to get your ticket swiped b4 you leave.

Great place for a day or night out, with the kids, your mates, or work colleagues. We actually had our Christmas night out here last year and it was brilliant fun! They usually have some deals on where you get one lane free, or double your lane time, so be sure to ask them what's on. I like the fact that the bar is slightly seperated, and if you want a break from the bowling, you can go have a chat or take a wander around the slot machines. There's great parking facilities underground, but it's really easy to get there by bus too, and there's usually a lot of taxi's available in the immediate area.

Really awful place. Somewhere to kill time before going to the cinema if you're not in the right frame of mind for a Nando's. The food is overpriced and greasy, there are loads of chavvy teenagers running about causing chaos, and threatening looking 'yoofs' hanging out around the pool tables. The bar service is super slow, and it has a grotty arcade. The best thing that ever happened here was when one of my friends decided he wanted some candy floss from the candy floss machine. He put his £1.50 or whatever in, the machine made a whirring noise, and a wooden stick (with no candy floss on it) plopped out. Brilliant. Oh and the Mario Kart game with a webcam where you can stick your face on the character is pretty cool I suppose. They get a star for that.
