I've been trying to find a stylist who will cut curly hair, and Magda is definitely the right person to go to! She did an amazing job dry-cutting my curls and expertly shaped my hair with layers. Her salon is cute, clean, and welcoming, and she had her sweet dog there to keep customers company (pictured)!
I know I'll definitely be coming back and recommending Snip and Sip to my friends. :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marie-Line V.Edinburgh, United Kingdom1058014321 Feb 2017
What a fantastic experience.... She is super friendly, and a real talent! Has a fantastic story to share...
You get a good shot of vodka before she starts with the scissors... :) Which was perfect as I went from long to short so I needed it haha!
I have very unruly super curly hair and always wanted it long but it never grew passed my shoulders. So I gave her freedom to do whatever. She made is short and so easy to maintain!!! I am going back tomorrow now three months later :) Also she does not tell me what I have to do, but works around how I treat my hair which is great. She said 'I cant train your hands', which makes sense as I am used to moving through my hair in a certain way for ages now.
Having curly hair, I've been traumatised many many times since being a little girl coming from hair dressers. I have to say, this is one of the best experiences I ever had!
So happy I found it!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ali W.Edinburgh, United Kingdom3133935 Apr 2016
Fab hair studio!
I hate going to the hair dressers... I've just never found one in Edinburgh where I feel happy with my new do... until now!! Such a lovely place with a great atmosphere and fab stylist, Magda, she really puts you at ease with her beautiful nature, friendly light and interesting conversation and expertise in hairdressing.
It's the kinda place where you can go in with no idea what you want, have a quick chat and Magda will perform her magic and come up with a cool new do! She knows her stuff!
Prices are shockingly great! One price. £27.50. For any cut and blow dry!! Really?? Yes, really. And this comes with tea, coffee or even a shot of quality Bison grass vodka!!
I'm really happy with my haircut... its not what I imagined at all... because I'm not a hairdresser! So i'm happy to be lead by an expert and happy to say the Magda knows her trade.
Can't wait for the next one and the one after that too.
Thankyou Magda!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - A M.Crawfordsville, United States050102 May 2018
The ideal salon situation. Magda is attentive without being fussy, and her perspective is to cut hair that has a "lived in" style. She gave me so many tips about how to manage my hair's particular characteristics. Highly recommend.

I know Magda through friends and have pretty much witnessed Snip & Sip's inception and growth in the Forest (cafe). Just in the last year it's gone from makeshift to very well established.
Magda shares the space with Alex, who runs the Massage Corner, and who recently served my back with one helluvan intense upper body massage. Just the atmosphere of the place is really exquisite. This being mainly because both Alex and Magda always genuinely look like they're having a great time. And nothing makes me want to go to a place more than seeing people having fun while they're working.
Snip & Sip is exactly what it sounds like: You have a sip (of vodka) and get (your fair) snipped. And Magda is good. She knows how to keep you calm (yes, I get stressed out in haircuts because I've had many a terrible one) and make you laugh without stabbing you with the scissors. And she definitely knows how to make you look cool.
When I was in San Francisco last summer, I went to the place she opened her first Snip & Sip and people there remembered her really fondly.
For a mere tenner you can get a haircut and a shot to calm your nerves. What're you waiting for?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anna F.York, United Kingdom3942936711 May 2010
This shop shouts quirky even just from its name. Suprisingly (not) the concept of a vodka shot and a haircut has made this place quite popular with the student crowd, let alone its close proximity to the Central Campus. It's also located within the same building that houses Forest Cafe, which seems to be the centre for everything quirky in that area.
Moreover, this place is affordable and the haircuts are good.Granted my friend didn/t get anything drastic done, but girls who work there are so friendly and her haircut turned out great!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sharon M.Alameda, United States314135339 Oct 2009First to Review
i was in desperate need of a trim for my bangs (aka my fringe for those of you who reside in the u.k.) and saw the adorable snip & sip sign on the sidewalk offering me a free shot of vodka with my haircut. How's a girl to resist an offer like that? I popped in and the adorable hairdresser was working on another girl, but since I wasn't able to come back later (tickets to a show), she paused (with other girls amused permission) and cut my bangs while i stood. Charged me virtually nothing, too. Shot of vodka - an added bonus to a cute haircut from a friendly lady!

So I walked in here on the off chance that they'd have a free slot to cut my hair, and they did! I had time to wait around for while the other appointment took place and there are lots of things to look at to keep you entertained.
Everyone was really friendly and friends kept dropping in to say hello which made a really nice atmosphere!
When it came time for my hair cut, I wasn't nervous because Magda had done a very nice job on the lady before me.
I was offered my sip of vodka and away she went... as did my hair... a lot of it!
The style I was going for didn't really look that great when it got to it so Magda sort of.. kept going until it looked cool enough!
We might have both been slightly shocked by the result but I'm sure it'll grow on me.....!!!
This was definitely the best experience I've had at a salon and I will certainly go back there for my next cut...........whenever my hair grows back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael B.Edinburgh, United Kingdom1379519 Mar 2011
As a guy I've had my haircut for £5 and I've shelled out as much as £31 in a salon and my haircut in here was better than both salons and barbers. As someone who isn't very good at the dreaded 'small talk', I found these guys funny and easy to talk to. The salon itself is unique and quirky with the price well worth it for a guy(£15).

Magda is a great hairdresser and very lovely! She listens, makes suggestions, but works with you to give you the cut and style you want. Most importantly, she is very good with curly hair! This is a HUGE bonus in Edinburgh, where there are not many hairdressers gifted with curly hair. She cuts it wet and dry, which is the proper way to do it to take into account shape and bounce. Cannot recommend her highly enough!! So happy to have found her :)
