We stopped in at Bierhaus Wulf, in the early afternoon of September 24, as they were beginning to decorate for Oktoberfest.
Our server Maya was delightful. We assured her we weren't your typical Americans who would demand service quickly and she smiled and relaxed. Our service was phenomenal. We started with a bretzel, he had a Bier and I stuck with a coke, which tasted better than American cola.
I got weiner schnitzel and my guy got a bratwurst of some kind and fries, the meal was solid, but the dessert was the best, boozy ice cream sundaes. I really think we may have to move to this corner of the world, just for their style of cooking.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 371737126622 May 2014
My friend who lives in Zurich wanted us to experience authentic Zurich cuisine so she brought us here. We had to sit outside because the band that was playing inside was way too loud for any type of conversation to be held. (Side note, when I went to the bathroom, there was a woman in there, up front by the stage with a dog on her lap. The dog seemed to really be enjoying the music!)
The three appetizers were good, well except for the wings, but I am a wing person, so it takes a lot to impress me. We got the veal, it was really good, it was in some sort of creamy mushroom sauce. We enjoyed our time here, but I will warn you, it is expensive. 3 appetizers, 2 meals, a few Jack & cokes and numerous aperol spritzers, the bill was $385 swiss francs!
The location is great though, right in the heart of the city.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 9 Sept 2017
Don't understand why they don't have better rating! Drinks are awesome and the food is amazing! C'mon people! Not sure if they always have live music on weekends but on our last day in Switzerland we stopped in for drinks and food and we were impressed! We enjoyed our visit.

It's unfortunate I even have to give this restaurant a star. The apparent owner takes advantage of tourist and makes absurd charges to add to your tab. My husband and I walked in and ordered 2 beers at 5.40 CHF each. We were there at most 30 minutes. When it comes time to pay , he added 14 CHF , 7 CHF each for listening to music while inside. However, that was nowhere to be seen or explained to us at any minute. Completely ridiculous, he even told another gentleman about it and that gentleman gave me an apologetic look, as a local he knew it was wrong.

Helloooooooooooooo tourist trap! Was the first thing I thought of when randomly stopping by here for a couple of beers with friends and nice hot Zurich day. Then, I further had my doubts when they told us they were going to charge us for the normal extra live music charge even though we were sitting outside not able to hear the music well. Despite this.... I ordered a nice half liter of Weißbier and soon my initial inhibitions began to melt away.
Why? Because this place isn't THAT bad... I went inside and they definitely have the cheesy music, beer flowing and however cheesy you might find it, if this drunkfest is your scene, then you might like it. Anyway, there is one reason why I REALLY come here and am not embarrassed to give a seemingly obvious tourist trap three stars:
Brätzel, Brätzel, BRAETZEL!!
If I'm at a bierhalle drinking beer and listening to happy accordion music, I want a god damn bretzel in my mouth!! So I ordered one without thinking of the consequence. And what was the consequence? Oh... nothing more than sheer mouthgasm when that soft and steamy morsel of bretzel first made contact with my unassuming bier soaked mouth. I immediately was shocked as to why this bretzel was so good. I swished the remains in my mouth trying to do an oral autopsy to discover what the secret was. Then, I was stopped by a panicking thought. HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM! There are three dudes here and only one bretzel!
Zwei brätzelen bitte!!!!
Aaaahhhhhhhh..... huere fein!!
I still have dreams, of the wet kind, when I think of sitting outside enjoying a nice beer and bretzel while watching all the fancy smancy cars drive by. If you don't like touristy places, you might turn flaccid here; but if you want a good piece of twisted dough with beer - give this place a try!! I still would probably sit outside because the inside festivities are a little too much for me unless I'm at Octoberfest. But if you want to act a fool, get super drunk, and act like a zoo animal (as one review so eloquently wrote) while eating a bretzel, this place might be for you!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - BRUCE S.Las Vegas, United States3119568021 May 2013
We were walking back to our hotel when the sound of German Music beckoned us. It was a weeknight , so the place wasn't very full. We sat and drank beer for a few hours and listened the the Austrian band play German beer hall music. Fun times!

Maybe it's all about who you're with and how little you know about a city.... But we had a fantastic time at bierhalle!!! Staff was amazing, we got drinks quickly and service without complication. The music was off the hook and everyone around us seemed to be having a great time. The only thing we ate here was an appetizer platter with typical "charcuterie", cheese and a pretzel. I love Switzerland for its carb-aholic ways! Again we went on a Sunday so the other weekend nights are probably crowded and less amazing... But who knows. It actually didn't seem that touristy, there were a lot of locals and even some older generations rockin out and dancing to the band.... We also came here with lifetime residents. All in all a great first night in zurich!
