I probably should try to get down to this side of the city more than I do, however due to time constraints I only ever pass this way when I am heading to Southern Cross Station to catch a bus to the airport (or a train out to the country). Anyway, I've walked past this pub a few times and it is quite a nice pub, though it has a really classy feel about it. Even though, despite the class, it is still a nice pub and it has a pretty decent selection of beers on tap. When I've been here, which has included Friday nights, it hasn't been hugely packed, but it does draw a bit of a crowd. It's not really one of those pubs I visit too often, but it is still pretty nice.

The Met is pretty much your standard 'local' pub, except that it is smack-bang in the middle of the city.
If you're lucky enough to work nearby, I dare say you should pop in for lunch once or twice. The Met does awesome pub-style meals on the cheap including an extremely impressive seafood platter.
The Met is one of those clever pubs that puts something on every night - $15 parma/pint on Mondays, $15 Steak night on Wednesday, but the absolute cracker is Tuesday night - Locals night - where a $10 menu pops up and we see how much we can eat without bursting.
The crowd can be a bit weird... A mix of old men, lawyers from the nearby courts and a few tradies thrown in as well, but the staff are all young and loud so all age groups are covered.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cliff B.Melbourne Victoria4156967525 Aug 2015
Nice collection of beers on tap, and an okay spot to grab a seat by the window and watch the city go by. Crowd is weird though - in the legal district between the train station and the courts you get the sense that lawyers maybe mix with those they were lawyering against a few hours earlier. Worked nearby years ago and recall lunches then being quite decent, although can't speak from any recent experience.

After struggling to find a nice pub, with a good selection of craft beers on draft, we stumbled on this great place. Very clean, not too modern, and the best craft beer selection we've found. Service is great and the staff is very friendly definitely worth a stop. However they do close early (10 pm on a Monday).
