I love my hair.
Correction - I love my hair after a visit to Hoxton Salon.
Particularly to Paula for color and Raul for a cut. The finest red organic color + the sharpest of precision, asymmetrical cuts!? A match made in follicle heaven. I get so many compliments, I leave feeling like a rock star and I sing their praises where ever I go.
It's a chill, no bullshit salon that's totally organic, serves you nice coffee and biscuits and leaves you looking fresh as hell. What else do you want guys!? GO!

I felt an update was in order!
Hoxton Salon was it's usual charming self. Quite comfortable, welcoming and running efficiently. Bustling on a Saturday morning, many clients situated with coffee (even individual french press -- well done!), the vibe is relaxed and stylish.
Without going into too much detail, Hayley got me whipped back into top waxing shape. She's super mellow, and I enjoy chatting to her so much that I nearly forget I am having hot wax poured upon sensitive parts of my body and ripped off. She's a total pro. And quite sweet!
I've already made my follow-up appointment pre-holidays -- think I can safely say Hayley is my waxing gal forevermore.

I'd let my eyebrows go. Now, this isn't the most dire of situations for me...they don't get too out of hand or anything, but still...to look sharp and polished I need them fixed up once in awhile. It's one of those things though, who do I go to!? Who do I let put hot wax on my face? It's never easy when you relocate.
Luckily -- I quite literally stumbled upon Hoxton Salon. After attending an event and meeting the owners Paula & Steve, I was sold. Needed to come back. Decided to dip my brow in -- Hayley for a brow wax.
And it is quite perfect. And quite a deal at 10 quid. My brows were whipped and waxed into shape in just 10 minutes, Hayley is quite a doll and I have already booked my next appointment for...ahem...more extensive waxing.
It's a legit spot and they are definitely known for their waxing services (they do hair and nails as well) -- so I went with the specialists.
Another box checked: waxer FOUND! - Lola L.Miami, United States48837 Feb 2016
I recently moved to London from Miami and was in desperate need of a full Brazilian bikini wax, only here it's called a Hollywood wax lol ... maybe I was wrong all along, who knows =P
Anyway, CARA was amazing! The technique is quite different from what I'm used to but apparently it's much better for your skin. Judging from the results a week later I can vouch for this as being true. My skin feels super good and better yet, no ingrown hairs! Thank god =)
I highly recommend her for any waxing, she makes you feel super comfortable and loses you in conversation. It'll be done before you know it. Her best attribute: detail oriented!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Wendy-Lee C.Orpington, London, United Kingdom1628 Aug 2016
I have been using Paula and her Salon for over 10 years and will not trust anyone else with my locks. I've never had a bad cut or colour. They use organic colour which doesn't ruin your hair and makes it feel wonderful and glossy and really listen to your needs and requirements. Always get compliments from my friends and colleagues when I return and asked where I have my hair done.
Also last not to mention not to forget the lovely bubbly or tea and coffee and delicious biscuits you get whilst there, the great relaxing vibe and of course the wonderful Staff that make you feel at home from the moment you walk in.
If you want good hair, this is the place.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Caroline L.Los Angeles, United States10624761016 Mar 2016
Other reviews don't lie, Paula is the best.
She managed to please a very scared/undecided client (aka me) with the most natural hair colour I could dream of. Basically my hair colour but better.
I had a lot of ideas of what I wanted and what I didn't want and Paula patiently listen to me going on about "I want to be blonde, but still a bit ginger, but not red. I want it different, but the same, stay natural, but still enough change to wow my husband)
we decided to go for a soft color first and then added more highlights. The result is fantastic.
And they only use organic products, that won't damage your hair.
If you want a natural hair color that lasts, go there.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Caroline, thank you very much, I am so pleased you are happy. Good luck with the move, Paula

Well, considering I've been back since my first review, I'm clearly happy with the salon and it definitely deserves the 5th star.
All of my points from my previous review still apply. Yes, it takes a long time - but it's worth it, and the reason it used to be faster at my old place was that not enough care and attention was taken. My colour looks lovely and natural now, but just better than what actually grows naturally.
Today I went in for a pretty big cut - 8 or 9 inches - but Rual was a bit more conservative, knowing it was going to be too much for me all at once (but would have cut more if I wanted. I didn't want - it's perfect).
I'll definitely be back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Nickie,
Thank you, appreciated we look forward to seeing you next time. Lovely chatting with you, Paula and Rual.3 June 2015Previous reviewI'm not one to really spend time/effort with my appearance. Clean, matching, not laughable-looking, and I'm good to go. Because of this, I like to make sure my hair is in decent shape, as I think a good cut and colour are the only things that keep me from looking like a bag lady.
Unfortunately for me, I'd not had my hair coloured for over a year or cut for 6 months, and the situation was getting dire. I have used the same hairdresser for over 10 years, but I just can't afford him any longer. I've tried a couple of others over the years but I've never had any luck - until now.
I'm used to getting my hair coloured with organic colour - I prefer the look, it's nicer to my hair, and I have some health reasons that make it much preferred. So when I saw Hoxton use organic colour, and at a price £50 less than my normal stylist, I bit the bullet, and I'm glad I did.
As ever, I sat down without much clue as to what I wanted, which in reality means I don't really want much done. Rual 'got' me right away and knew what I was after. The result is hair that (both my husband and I said this independantly!) looks like my hair is meant to look. It's just a natural, better me, that slotted right into my lifestyle without any fuss. You know how you have an idea of how you look in your head, and then you see yourself in the mirror and it's totally different? That's how I looked the day before I went. The day after? It all matched up.
The lost star - which I'm being a bit harsh on - is for the time taken. I was a few minutes late but I was still kept waiting for a while, and ended up spending over 3 hours in the salon for 3/4 highlights and a cut. I'm used to doing a half head and cut in about 1.5 hours at my old place. Hopefully the next time, it'll be a bit quicker and I can update to the 5 stars that I'd like to give! - Caroline C.La Cañada Flintridge, United States1418 Feb 2015
This review is for hair colouring.
I did a LOT of research before deciding to colour my hair because it was my very first time. After seeing all of the great reviews, I chose to book an appointment at Hoxton Salon on a Tuesay afternoon for a fade. I met with Paula (who is absolutely wonderful) and discussed what we could do with my hair. I knew it would be difficult because my hair is 1) dark, Asian hair 2) virgin hair. I also didn't have an exact clear idea of what I wanted to do, but Paula was great in working with me and understood exactly what I was trying to go for. We decided to do a super subtle, natural fade in my hair with some warm caramel tones and start off easy because it was my first time.
All in all, it was a great experience. Paula was super accommodating, especially because my hair is super thick and took quite a bit of time. She made sure that it was just right, never rushing through the process. Tasha, who cut my hair, was also fantastic - she knew exactly what I wanted. I spent a long time in the Salon, but they made me feel like a priority, always checking up on how I was doing, offering me something to drink, making great conversation. Everything turned out perfectly, even better than I could have imagined. Hoxton Salon made a great first colouring experience, and I will definitely be back!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Anoop K.London, United Kingdom3218015 Nov 2015
I've just subjected myself to a man-wax, or as I like to call it, 'Voluntary Punishment', at the Hoxton Salon.
This is my second ever wax, the last being over three years ago, and I must say that although it was painful (cue derision from the ladies who get this kinda thing done regularly!), it wasnt as bad as the last time which can only mean that the lovely Hayley and her organic wax did a fantastic job.
She even offered me a beer, though 11:45am was too early even for me on this occasion, so I settled on tea and then got straight to it.
25mins of that tearing sound later, my chest and back is now properly smooth, though feeling very delicate!
She gave me some aftercare advice and told me to come back when I need another one - which I shall do!!
Just under £60 total for the both.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amanda R.Harlem, Manhattan, United States278812 Mar 2017
Called in to the salon the day of in hopes of getting a last minute Hollywood wax. Luckily, they were able to fit me in and told me to come in as soon as I could. I was seen immediately and the service was excellent! I was waxed by Hayley, who has over 11 years experience in the field. She use's organic wax and removes much smaller sections of hair at a time, making the experience MUCH less painful. Although waxing is never a "fun" experience, I am looking forward to returning to her in 4 weeks to have the Hollywood wax done again!

I was looking for a cheaper alternative to my normal place for my haircut and color and this place has a ridiculously high rating on another review site not worth mentioning. Unfortunately I didn't dig into those reviews--they all rave about the waxing service this place does.
My hairdresser (can't remember the woman's name) was so incredibly chatty. But nice and friendly. They use all organic products, although I thought the tint was really monotone. The cut was fine but I noticed she blew my hair out exactly as she did the woman's hair before me.
It is a nice space, but lacking any edge or glamor that makes it a special treat to get your hair done.
So now I am back to expensive hair services, but at least the come with good martinis!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jade W.Austin, United States283815 June 2013
These ladies are great! I haven't had any hair service here yet, but I did recently go in for a brazilian wax.
The receptionist on the phone was pleasant when I called to make my appointment. She went over the entire list of options and didn't rush me to make a decision or an appointment. When I arrived, I was greeted by a very cheerful woman who took my coat and brought me a glass of champagne.
The waxing service was 5 starts. I felt totally comfortable, had a great conversation, and was in and out in about 20 minutes. There's no magical secret to keep a brazilian wax from being slightly painful, but having a compassionate and professional esthetician is certainly helpful.
Additionally, I should also say that I arrived about 20 minutes early. While sitting in the main room, I overheard lots of different conversations between stylists and their clients. Not once did I hear anyone complaining or saying things that were negative or unprofessional, which is so refreshing in a salon environment. The owner of this place should be really proud of everyone working here.
Overall - A+ for Hoxton Salon. I'll be back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
